Gazipur: The first phase of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema, organized by the Shura-e-Nizam faction (followers of Maulana Zubair) of the Tablighi Jamaat, concluded with the Akheri Munajat (final prayer) on Wednesday.
Maulana Zubair led the concluding prayer, which commenced at 12:09 PM and ended at 12:27 PM. This brought an end to the second segment of the first phase of the religious gathering, which spanned six days.
The second phase of the Ijtema, organized by the followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, is set to begin on February 14 and will continue until February 16, concluding with the final prayer on the last day.
Meanwhile, Habibullah Raihan, media coordinator for the Shura-e-Nizam group, has announced the dates for the 59th Bishwa Ijtema. The event in 2026 will be held in two phases: the first from January 2 to January 4, and the second from January 9 to January 11.
The government has allowed Maulana Saad’s followers to hold the second phase of the Ijtema this year under specific conditions. As per the terms, this will be the last time they are permitted to organize the event or conduct Tablighi activities at Tongi’s Ijtema grounds.
Despite these restrictions, Maulana Saad's followers have been given the go-ahead to proceed with their scheduled gathering at the Tongi ground from February 14 to February 16.
